Organizational Snapshot:

Perlan (the Pearl), the VSA affiliate in Iceland, is a touring theater and dance company composed of adults with developmental disabilities. Since its debut in 1982, Perlan has performed throughout Iceland and in many other countries of Europe on a continuous basis under that direction of actress and teacher Sigridur Eythorsdottir. Perlan has built a reputation for innovative theater pieces based on traditional Icelandic stories and in the past few years has experimented with the use of creative movement as a means to interpret music. From this experiment, Perlan has broadened its repertoire to include both ballet and modern dance pieces in the company's performances.
