Established in 1989, Very Special Arts India believes that the spiritual freedom of humankind depends on the transcendence of all prejudices, including those associated with developmental and physical disabilities. Striving to achieve this ideal, Very Special Arts India provides a wide variety of art activities for children, youth, and adults, ranging from an annual national art competition, art exhibitions, art therapy, festivals, theater workshops, and music projects to textile printing workshops, weaving projects, and a creative writing contest. The organization also publishes a directory listing services in New Delhi available to people with disabilities. Very Special Arts India's center is open to underprivileged children and young adults, as well as people with disabilities.
