Organizational Snapshot:
The Young Muslim Women's Association (YMWA) is a nonprofit, voluntary organization, founded in 1972 under the patronage of her Royal Highness Princess Sarvath El-Hassan. In response to the social and educational needs of Jordanian society, the YMWA founded the Princess Sarvath Community College, the Centre for Special Education, and the YMWA Sheltered Workshop. The Centre for Special Education offers early childhood and prevocational programs. Since its inception, the Centre has quadrupled its enrollment and now provides comprehensive services to children ages 3 to 19. The Centre has also expanded into a new building that allows room for growth of its weaving, ceramics, and fine arts programs. The Sheltered Workshop, located at the Amman Industrial Estate, was established in response to the success of the Centre's prevocational program and provides employment for graduates of the Centre for Special Education.
