Organizational Snapshot:
The Centro Ann Sullivan del Perú (CASP), is a private day center for children with developmental disabilities and their families. More than 350 individuals with their families annually receive services at CASP using the Natural Functional Curriculum, a unique methodology that serves as a model for organizations in other countries around the world. The methodology was developed at CASP and in the past ten years, has been used to train more than 12,000 professions and families of people with disabilities through workshops and teleconferencing. Recently, CASP has introduced painting, theater, and music into their curriculum. Dr. Liliana Mayo, who founded the center in 1979, takes great pride in the fact that more than 20% of her students are enrolled in mainstream schools or are employed, productive members of society. A number of these students are having success as artists, contributing art sales to the family income. The Centro Ann Sullivan del Perú joined VSA arts as an affiliate in 1984.
