VSA/CVS Caremark All Kids Can Partnership

All Kids Can... CREATE! Yearlong Program
VSA and CVS Caremark All Kids Can share a mutual commitment to improving the lives and learning of children with disabilities and are expanding the role of arts in inclusive education through a joint yearlong program. The All Kids Can…CREATE! program involves a two-part initiative:

  • Call to Engage
The Call to Engage presents teaching and service opportunities to VSA affiliates, teaching artists, and CVS employees. VSA affiliates organize Artist-in-Residence programs, in which students and teachers engage in eight-week residencies. In 2009, VSA affiliates conducted Artist-in-Residence programming in nine cities: San Antonio, Texas; Nashville, Tenn.; New York, N.Y.; Washington, D.C.; Boston, Mass.; Atlanta, Ga.; Los Angeles, Ca.; Detroit, Mich.; and Providence, R.I. The Call to Engage also connects CVS Caremark with the All Kids Can...CREATE! initiative in their communities. Working in concert with VSA affiliates, CVS stores and employees create and carry out activities and events within their communities such as including art events in the stores, distributing materials, and participating in the selection of artwork for the All Kids Can...CREATE! exhibition.
  • Call to Create
VSA issues a nationwide call for art in the fall that encourages children and youth to submit artwork and share their creativity. One piece of artwork from each state and the District of Columbia is chosen for inclusion in an exhibition that opens in Washington, D.C., and embarks on a nationwide tour. We received more than 4,500 submissions in 2009.
